In Liberty Common Charter School: Excellence in Education, Senior Fellow in Education Policy Ross Izard shares the success of a Fort Collins parent-led public charter school that meets the standard of excellence. Liberty Common is a K-12 public charter school authorized by the Poudre School District in Fort Collins, Colorado. Students in kindergarten through grade eight follow the content-rich Core Knowledge Sequence. In the early grades, students receive explicit systematic phonemic awareness and phonics instruction. The high school is a classically-oriented liberal arts college-preparatory institution accentuating math, science, and engineering. An important aspect of Liberty Common’s pursuit of excellence is its character education program.

The school has a history of dedicated parents, staff, and students. The magazine style publication, with numerous photographs, allows the reader to join Ross in a school tour and see how Liberty Common Charter School has provided its students with in-person learning—despite the pandemic.
