And the Californian of the Year is…

And the Californian of the Year is…

We at the Independence Institute are committed to protecting our Colorado Culture, where we crave the freedom to make our own decisions. Those who vie for Californian of the Year believe in the Californian Control of demanding to make decisions for others.

First, a big round of applause please for all of this year’s nominees. They have worked so hard to change Colorado into California, as well as the many, many more who deserve recognition for their hard work in taking away freedom of choice in Colorado. But only five can be nominated. So let’s hear it for…

  • Jason Lacy, president of the Steamboat Springs City Council, for beating up plastic grocery bags.
  • Boulder City Council member Jill Adler Grano, for welcoming gun owners in the way the Moral Majority welcomed gays and lesbians during the 1980’s AIDS epidemic.
  • Corrine Fowler, sponsor of Proposition 111, for taking away choice from poor people by effectively ending the payday loan industry in Colorado.
  • Kelly Brough, the Queen of Crony and president of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce for leading the charge for corporate welfare and tax increases.

And the winner is…

United States President-elect John Hickenlooper for ceding Colorado’s automobile regulations to the governor of California!

Our panel of judges were impressed by all the talented nominees this year, but for a nominee to quite literally surrender Colorado’s vehicle standards to the governor of California, well it just doesn’t get more Californian than THAT!

Our governor, John Hickenlooper, went around the state legislature and “adopted” the California Low Emission Vehicle Standard. While the courts will have to decide if Hick even has the authority to gift Jerry Brown control of Colorado without lawmakers’ okay, our judges were taken by the honesty of submitting the citizens of Colorado to the authority of the Californian Empire.

Under this official surrender to California, the California governor’s appointees will legally decide what types of vehicles will be sold in Colorado. Jerry Brown’s lackeys will now dictate what battery-powered, golf cart-sized cars and trucks Colorado ranchers will be able to buy to haul supplies over the continental divide. Yes, a governor for all Colorado.

Whether it’s pandering to California voters for his upcoming presidential run or just a desire to suck up to Jerry Brown, the judges were awed by John Hickenlooper’s drive to turn us into California.

Congratulations to our 2018 Californian of the Year award winner John Hickenlooper!

Think Freedom,

Jon
