That’s how many signatures we delivered to the Secretary of State’s office this morning to get our #RealFairTax cut on this fall’s ballot. Do you have any idea how long it took me to forge that many signatures?

But seriously, it was great joining State Senator Jerry Sonnenberg, my co-proponent on Initiative 306, to drop off what should be more than enough petitions to get us over the nearly 125,000 required to ask voters to lower our flat income tax rate from 4.63% to 4.55%.

This small tax cut will help Governor Jared Polis fulfill one of his campaign promises; lowering the tax rate. He said he wanted to do that and close tax “loopholes.” Well, he already approved a back door tax increase by signing House Bill 1420 (see my Complete Colorado column on this very topic), which ended many tax credits and limits how much in operating losses businesses can deduct due to COVID-19.
We’re looking forward to the Governor’s support in passing Initiative 306 this fall and helping him keep his word to Coloradans.

Thanks to all who carried a petition, signed a petition, or sent in a dollar to help with the effort!

Onward to Energizing Colorado’s Economy and making our state more attractive for business and productive people. Take that, COVID-19.
