First a quick personal update. I can’t believe the amazing support I’m receiving while I refuse to comply with Boulder’s new, hateful gun ban. My hometown for so many decades, you know, the town that wears its “tolerance” on its sleeves, has decided it doesn’t want my type in their lily-white town. My type being a gun owner.
Most gun owners in Boulder are being pushed into the closet. They aren’t complying with a ban on some of the most common guns in the country, but they’re smart enough to do it quietly. I’m doing it publicly.
I decided I should build up a little cash reserve for when they come knocking on my door, so I put together a crowd-funding campaign on our Freedomfy.com platform. I wanted to raise $7500 to use for legal expenses, bail money, daycare for my kids, and to educate folks about how “welcoming and diverse” Boulderites really are.
Within a few days, people used Freedomfy to give over $9000. Wow! Thank you all.
I want to show you just how ridiculous this anti-gun ordinance is. This quick video might also be good to share with someone who doesn’t understand that an “assault weapon” only looks mean. Complete Colorado’s coverage of my fight is updated with the latest here.
Speaking of the intolerance of Boulder, the Boulder Valley School District showed their love of diversity by shooting down a charter school that would have provided just a little intellectual diversity. Here’s my latest for the Denver Post. To me diversity is what’s between your ears, not between your legs.
If you’ve never been to the Annual Retreat put on by our friends at the Leadership Program of the Rockies, you’re missing one of the best conservative parties of the year. Assuming I’m not in the Boulder County jail for a gun violation or writing insensitive columns, I’ll be misbehaving there at the ultra-swanky Broadmoor hotel in Colorado Springs on February 15th to hobnob with conservative thought leaders from around the nation. Please buy your tickets and RSVP here. And be sure to find me and buy me a scotch or two.
Think Freedom,
Jon
