Georgia Enacts Special Needs Scholarships

May 18, 2007–Today Governor Sonny Perdue signed into law the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship program. The law gives current Georgia public school students with disabilities the option of attending an out-of-district public school or non-public (private) school, beginning in fall 2007. The scholarship will be worth the equivalent of the cost of educating the student in public school or the school’s tuition, whichever is less.

Georgia joins Florida, Arizona, Utah, and Ohio in enacting a scholarship program for students with disabilities.
