DeGrow Comments on Denver Charter School Network Success

Quoted in an article for School Reform News, an Education Policy Center expert commented on a locally-commissioned study identifying success among Denver charter schools:

“One bright light of success in Denver has been the growth of some charter school networks,” said Ben DeGrow, senior education policy analyst for the Independence Institute. “It just shows that the kind of flexibility they provide and the focus on innovative ways to help students learn are paying off and other schools could do a lot to learn from them.”

The Donnell-Kay Foundation’s 2012 report Great Expectations, Mixed Results by senior fellow Alexander Ooms identified the top-flight performance of West Denver Prep and the Denver School of Science and Technology as driving the superior results of charter schools in Colorado’s capital city.
