Did you know that a group of Republicans in the Colorado State Senate stole the tax cut that Donald Trump and the U.S. congressional Republicans worked to give us? While our federal taxes go down under the Trump cuts, our “adjusted taxable income” line item on our federal tax forms go up. And since Colorado bases our income tax on that Federal line item, our Colorado income taxes will go soaring.
That normally would not be a problem because our Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights refunds that excess tax revenue back to us. Well, that’s what would have happened if state Senators Jerry Sonnenberg and Kevin Grantham hadn’t colluded with 100% of the Democrats in the state legislature to take it away with a scam called the Hospital Provider Fee.
Long story short, the largest betrayal of Republican values, Sonnenberg’s Senate Bill 17-267, just keeps on betraying. Read my Denver Post column on it here. This Republican sellout is also making national news. Read Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform, in his recent piece for The Washington Examiner here.
“Illegal alien” vs. “undocumented worker,” “retarded” vs. “developmentally delayed” – I’ve come to the conclusion that the worst part of the unbearable politically correct speech code is the word inflation. I offer a compromise with the snowflake Left in my latest for the Denver Post here. They can choose the words we use but only if they’re shorter than what we were using before.
Why are we paying rich guys to buy Tesla’s? Might the legislature actually stop this cronyism?

It’s not a TED Talk tonight. It’s more of a TED Panel. With all the heated rhetoric over guns, our Second Amendment expert, Dave Kopel, has been invited to be a part of TEDxMileHigh’s first “Conversation Series” exploring the difficult subject. As usual he’ll be facing off against those to dis-arm us tonight at 6:00. The event is free, but seats are limited. Get your ticket here:
