No Child Left Behind, or NCLB, is the current and commonly recognized name for the Elementary and Secondary Education Act that governs the federal role in K-12 education. Under the existing policy, students attending a school that fails to achieve Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in improving student achievement are eligible for free tutoring services or free transportation to a higher-performing public school.
