FASTER stands for Faculty/Administrator Safety Training and Emergency Response.

FASTER training enables teachers, administrators and other school employees to stop school violence quickly and administer medical aid immediately. FASTER is not intended as a replacement for Police and EMTs. Instead, it enables on-site personnel to save lives through prompt action.

Coloradans for Civil Liberties brought FASTER training to Colorado after its successful 5-year track record in Ohio. Please donate here to sponsor a school staff member in Colorado.

Class Information

While FASTER training is focused on securing our schools, the training is also open to other participants such as church staff or other CHP holders.

Class tuition is $1,000 and includes a complete trauma kit for the participants to take back to their school, church or home. Scholarships are available for school staff members, upon request, through Coloradans for Civil Liberties in conjunction with Independence Institute. We never want the lack of budget in a school or district to keep a schoolstaff member from this life-saving training. Partial scholarships may be available to other participants.

If you are chosen to participate, you will attend an intensive 3-day class where you will learn many of the same skills and tactics used by law enforcement. Your instructors will include professional law enforcement personnel with extensive knowledge of active shooter situations. You will leave this class physically and mentally exhausted, but those who have participated agree that it is a wonderful experience and life changing class.

How we will choose participants:

You will be required to have a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit You may apply for FASTER before you get your CHP, but will need it before training. A background check will be conducted on all 24 selected attendees prior to admission. Anyone prohibited from possessing a firearm will be disqualified.

You can help us by answering the questions below. Please be completely honest. We are looking for a wide range of people with various levels of experience. We will keep your answers and your identity confidential. We will not discuss your request, unless you specifically request us to do so.
