Anne Hyre is a certified nurse midwife who spent 30 years working for Johns Hopkins University to improve maternal and newborn health in developing countries. Serving in a variety of roles, she lived and worked in over 25 countries across the former Soviet republics, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and sub-Saharan Africa. Anne joined the Bettering Human Lives Foundation upon its launch in January 2024, driven to make a bigger impact by addressing the root of the problem—energy poverty. Anne holds bachelor’s degrees from University of California-Davis and Johns Hopkins University, and master’s degrees from Emory University and Georgetown.
