Californian of the Year Award (in, um, Colorado)

Californian of the Year Award (in, um, Colorado)

I couldn’t be more excited to announce the Independence Institute’s first annual “Californian of the Year” Award!

That’s right! Since our once ruggedly individualistic state of Colorado is turning into East California, we at Independence believe we should celebrate those brave men and women who are making California-like policies grow and prosper while taking away our liberty here.

Now, the definition of “Californian” in this case doesn’t necessarily mean that the winner is from California or has ever even visited California.

Being Californian is a state of mind. It’s very simple. While being Coloradan means one who craves the freedom to make one’s own decisions, being Californian means demanding to make decisions for other people.

To better understand my concern of how we are turning into East California, please check out my latest column for the Denver Post here. It might help you remember what Colorado’s brave and powerful character used to be.

We will honor the Coloradan who has done the most to turn us into California with the prestigious “Californian of the Year” Award.

Next week I will announce our nominations, and on Wednesday December 27th we will announce the proud winner!

We hope you are as excited as we are!

Stay tuned and Think Freedom!
