One October I was running my usual three miles and decided to run a marathon the next February. I did it in less than four hours! I’ve accomplished things I never imagined I could.

Shari Hanrahan is the Director of Investor Opportunities at the Independence Institute. She is a fundraising professional with more than 12 years of experience connecting benefactors to charitable missions that meet their philanthropic goals. Her experience developing and executing campaign strategies, managing fundraising budgets, overseeing multi-faceted events, and engaging donors has resulted in significant success for the organizations and donors she serves. Her commitment fighting for liberty includes as Vice President of Development for the Texas Public Policy Foundation for ten years; a fellow state-focused, free market think tank that has risen to national prominence. A previous staff member of now Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, Shari served three Texas state representatives prior to joining TPPF. Shari has firsthand experience working with media as a spokesperson for Southwest Airlines at their headquarters in Dallas, Texas, after having received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University. Shari has joined the Independence Institute team to  expand II’s funding base and invite our donors to grow their commitment as II grows its prominence in the state. She is a board member of TILT, a uniquely-abled adult performance group, and a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteer for children in the child protection system. Shari has three amazing children, and a cat, a dog, and a rat. The rat is leaving for college with her son this fall.  She lives in Austin, Texas.
