It is important to expect nothing, to take every experience, including the negative ones, as merely steps on the path, and to proceed..

Everything Everywhere All at Once

I have been to 18 different countries

Katherine Donovan Hurych is the Development Associate for the Independence Institute. Originally from Houston, Texas, Kat grew up in The Woodlands and went to the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sustainability and Natural Resource Management. Her studies have taken her to Hawaii, Spain, and Ecuador to learn how different countries interact with their natural resources.

After graduating, Kat started working for the Texas Public Policy Foundation as a Development Associate. During her tenure at TPPF, she co-authored a research paper on the EPA’s Endangerment Finding.

In late 2020, Kat moved to Germany to be with her husband who was stationed there with the U.S. Army. She made the most of her time by enrolling in a Master’s in Public Administration and Policy with American University and is due to graduate in 2024.

Kat has made Colorado Springs her home and tried to hike the Manitou Incline where her ego was checked and had to bail out at step 520, but there is hope to be in better shape and tackle the immense hike one day. Kat has an adorable cat named Toby and a dog named Sadie that are surprisingly best friends 5/7 days a week. Aside from attempting to hike, Kat also enjoys playing Catan and Trivia in her free time.
